SELECTION OF WALLPAINTINGS
Based upon my months of research in a number of frescos and wallpaintings in Italy I myself carry out sitespecific wallpaintings in which monumental coloristic narratives unfold. Most recently I created a 56 meter long painting inside a tunnel as a public outdoor commision for Elsinore Council in Denmark.
I am interested in the painting being a direct part of the context, an architectural extension of the painting, as it is where it started inside the cavepaintings. In arthistorical terms I would argue that it is a more recent gesture to the painting being a sqaure, an object.
PUBLIC COMMSION 2020
2 x 26 meter wallpainting
Inside a tunnel in Elsinore, Denmark I created a painting on two walls. The tunnel was official opened on September 9, 2020.
The idea was to portray the legend Holger Danske about which is said that he will awaken from his sleep when the Danes needs him. I believe that not only the Danes needs him, but the entire world, as it is about time to wake up all the legends and heroes we can think of due to the rapid changes in the world. Holger Danske is known to the locals as he is sitting as a sculpture in the barracks of Kronborg, the castle in Kronborg and known for Hamlet; to be or not to be.
Elsinore is surrounded by the sea and I wanted to create an imaginary sealandscape around Holger Danske, whose weapons explode into flowers. Sculptures from the city is created along side a number of the locals.
The painting is created inside a tunnel located next to a big area of social housing called Vapnagaard. I was living in Vapnagaard throughout my childhood why my own personal memories and experience from this place became an indirect expression of the complete artwork.
Photos will soon be online.
The project was funded by Kunst og Byrum, Helsingør and The Danish Cultural Ministry.

PUBLIC COMMISION 2019
2 X 26 meter wallpainting
In the late summer of 2019 I was invited by Slagelse Council to create an outdoor public commission. Inside a tunnel I created 56 paintings directly on the site while the many locals from the town Skælskør came to visit the process. It was an intense period, I was painting and talking all at once. After a few days I realized that one could not exist without the other so I started to integrate the many conversations directly in the artwork. Especially the many tales around a nearby lake came into the motifs where birds, fauna and nature quickly became a part of the final artwork. At the opening I was supposed to do a performance, however, I made a speach directly to the many people from the town as they had become such an important part of the entire event. Thank you to the mayor, the town, the council and not at least to the many many locals for making it such a wonderful experience. The artwork today is truly yours.
