CURRENT EXHIBITION AT JOHANNES LARSEN MUSEUM (DK)

I am currently involved in an exhibition at the Danish Museum Johannes Larsen, showcasing a fresh series of abstract paintings. Through these pieces, I delve into the interplay between materiality, intuition, and spirituality. My aim is to shape a painterly language that hints at a profound spiritual connection within. ´

Color and Form as Spiritual Elements
I believe that in abstract art, color and form can be used to evoke emotional and spiritual responses in viewers. Abstract art allows artists to transcend the limitations of representational imagery and delve into the realm of the metaphysical and spiritual.

Clement Greenberg has argued that abstract art possesses a spiritual dimension by transcending the constraints of representation and engaging directly with the viewer’s subconscious. According to Greenberg, abstract art allows for a direct encounter with the “purity” of artistic expression, which can elicit profound emotional and spiritual responses.

I also believe that abstract art often invites viewers to engage in subjective interpretation and contemplation, fostering a sense of introspection and spiritual inquiry. The experience of engaging with abstract paintings can be likened to a form of meditation, where the viewer is encouraged to delve into the depths of their own consciousness and explore existential questions.

Additionally, in a performance video titled ‘Horseshadow’, I assume the persona of one of my alter egos, reading a text reflecting on the notion of not being a fish.
